It all started back in 2003, when I (Hetty) decided to turn my love for design and vintage furniture into a little business with one of my friends. We set up shop in this charming old building that used to be a farm, and from there, our collection of unique finds started to grow. Soon we had pieces from brands like Pastoe, Marko, Tomado and Galvanitas and other big brands in Dutch design. The retro vibe was strong back then, so we mixed in some fun, colorful plastics in orange and purple from brands like Hemna for that perfect throwback to the seventies. Much like our logo from back then
About Howaboutout:
Our Vintage Design Adventure
Finding Our Home @
“De gouden driekhoek“
After a while, it was just me, and Howaboutout needed more space to keep up with demand. So, I moved from the farm into an old bakery in Hoogezand. But before long, that space wasn’t enough either. That’s when I stumbled upon a spot in Zuidbroek, right in “De gouden driehoek” which translates to “The golden triangle” It’s a big place with a showroom, a warehouse, and even a living area, so I could keep expanding our collection of mid-century modern, industrial, contemporary pieces and more.
Our Team and the Howaboutout Experience
These days, my partner Wim and two sons have joined me on this journey. Wim used to work as a carpenter and restores classic woodwork, takes care of transporting pieces from chairs and tables to unique sideboards and cabinets. My sons focus on webdevelopement, photography, shipping and restoring pieces where needed. Together we’ve created a really special shop here.
Our showroom is open by appointment only
Zuidbroek isn’t exactly a bustling shopping district but You’re welcome to visit seven days a week, even in the evening or on holidays! Just give us a call or drop an email, and we’ll make sure the coffee’s hot.
Whether you’re looking for a vintage sofa, a Danish lighting fixture, or a cool vase to complete your space, Howaboutout is here to help you find that perfect piece with a story.
